The Economy of Ghana Network of the Institute of Statistical, Social and Economic Research (ISSER), University of Ghana under the Public Health and Population thematic area, gladly invites you to a workshop on “The Emerging Oil Industry in Ghana: Housing, Living Conditions and Social Dynamics in Takoradi”.

The purpose of the workshop is to bring policy makers together to begin a process of advocacy activities that can address the social dimensions of the discovery of oil in the country. The workshop will address issues on the effects of Ghana’s emerging oil industry and its social impact on the general standard and cost of living in terms of access to housing, education among others within the Takoradi Metropolis. The change in societal welfare and the shift of attention among the indigenous people of Takoradi and migrants will also be addressed at the workshop.

The Economy of Ghana Network (EGN) is a Country Level Knowledge Network (CLK-NET) with some characteristics of a civil society organization. It embraces all persons with adequate training and interest in discussing issues relevant to the proper management of the economy of Ghana and the country’s socio-economic development. The network provides a platform for disseminating research findings and discussing their policy relevance. The Network is funded by African Capacity Building Foundation (ACBF).
